Physiotherapy

is concerned with human function and movement. It addresses problems with mobility, dysfunction and pain such as those arising from Musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory and chronic disability conditions, or from Mental illness and intellectual impairment.

Podiatrists or chiropodists specialise in the diagnosis and management of foot and lower leg complaints by providing treatment of any disorders, diseases and injuries to keep this part of the body working properly. Foot problems affect people of all ages and abilities, from young children to athletes and the elderly. Having a foot disorder can cause pain in the lower back and other joints by changing how you walk or run. Foot problems include infections, sporting or overuse injuries, or can be the consequence of some systemic diseases, such as diabetes

. Podiatrists or chiropodists treat a wide variety of lower limb dysfunctions including Achilles tendon pain, aching feet, athletes foot, blisters, bunions, corns and callous, cracked heels, diabetes related problems, fallen arches, footwear advice, fungal nails, thickened nails, Heel pain and heel spurs, ingrown toenails, knee pain, plantar warts, shin pain and stress fractures.

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of treatment and has been used in China for over 3000 years and there is some evidence that it have may even have been used by prehistoric man. It involves inserting fine needles into the local area where pain is experienced or away from it or both. In traditional Chinese medicine they believe there are channels through which energy (Chi) flows. The flow of energy should be constant in a healthy person but if you are ill or injured the energy may be reduced or increased. Placing fine needles into these channels in special acupuncture points changes the energy flow. This aims to restore the normal flow of energy and eases your signs and symptoms, including pain. Modern science has shown that using acupuncture needles stimulates your nerves and brain to release special chemicals which act as your own natural stress and pain relievers. It also allows nerves to send messages that help to block out painful ones.
